I can’t tell if The World’s End has inspired me to drink more, hang out with friends more, or suspect everyone is not who they seem to be. (Hmm, I’m think a little of all three.) Either way, if The World’s End is any indication, all three sound like a blast…

The World’s End has a plot that should never be spoiled, yet the trailers went out of their way to spoil the living shit out of it, which is a damn shame. So, I knew already going in what it was going to be about, but I can tell you wholeheartedly, if you haven’t seen the trailer and don’t know a thing about the movie, it’s best to go in and be surprised by the twists and turns. The World’s End reminds me a little of From Dust till Dawn in a way, in that the first bit is one movie and the next part, is something completely different, which is fantastic.

With all the above being said, this review will be somewhat short, based on the fact I don’t really want to tell you much. What I can tell you however, is that there is plenty of humor in the story, with several parts making me laugh out loud. There are also some kick ass fight scenes, that are way over the top. However, I think I enjoyed the scenes that just had the friends drinking together and pissing around, making jokes and enjoying good ol’ times. Simon Pegg’s character, Gary King, was sad in a way, in that he was still living in the past and never moved on. All his friends moved on, got married and jobs and here he is: sad, alone and remembering the last time they did the pub crawl as teenagers. It’s probably the movie’s most honest moments, in the 109 minute run time.
I don’t have too many complaints to throw at The World’s End. There are a few characters that have outcomes that I wish was a little different. I wound up enjoying each guy so much, I was hurt to see anything happen to them. Also, people will probably be a little disappointed in the ending, but I enjoyed it and thought it fit the overall tone of the movie well.

The World’s End is a fun movie, with witty dialogue, humorous scenes, some thrilling action and an overall mood, that invokes wanting to have a good time with friends. The “twist” will probably throw some people for a loop, if you haven’t seen the trailers that is and it’s up to you to decide if you’ll enjoy it or not. As for me, I thought it was a blast and one I most certainly will watch again.
