The character of Jason Voorhees has gone through so many looks throughout the years, it’s often hard to keep track of what look was what movie. Continuity didn’t seem to be a big concern back in the 80s and thankfully, cause of that, we have several awesome different looks of our favourite slasher and we also get to buy several different collectibles, due to all these different looks. Let’s take a walk down slasher lane and look at each one individually…
Young Jason Voorhees (Part 1, 8, FvsJ, Remake)
We start off with the young version of Jason Voorhees. The tragic image of young Jason, has been seen in several films in the long running series and he usually looked the same, with only a few slight changes. I decided to group the young Jason Voorhees, as he doesn’t appear in every movie.
Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th)
Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan)
Young Jason Voorhees had several looks in Part VIII. This is a more human looking one.
A little more closer to the original look.
This is a weak attempt if you ask me.
Back to a normal look by the end of the movie. Lame.
Jason Voorhees (Freddy vs Jason)
Freddy vs Jason did a great job at replicating the look of the original.
Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th (2009))
The remake was doing its own thing and for the most part, it worked.
Friday the 13th Part II
Jason was more hillbilly in the second one, with the plaid shirt and jean overalls.
A nice close up shot of the sack (that sounded more dirty than I wanted it to).
Jason Unmasked!
Friday the 13th Part III
Jason steals some clothes and dumps the sack for a new look, the hockey mask!
Up close shot of the infamous hockey mask.
Jason had a few different looks, due to the makeup being changed. This is the final look.
Jason loses the mask after getting knocked in the head with an axe.
The unused look, by the legendary Stan Winston!
Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter
Continuity was actually pretty good in The Final Chapter. Jason looks very similar to Part III.
Up close of the mask, earlier in the film.
Up close of the same mask, as the wear and tear is taking its toll on it.
Jason’s mug is the biggest thing that changed. Thanks to Tom Savini, the look is closer to the original.
Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
The ghost of Jason haunts Tommy Jarvis.
Even in Tommy’s nightmares, Jason is still deadly.
Nice up close shot of the mask in Part V.
Hey! That ain’t Jason Voorhees! Nope, it’s Impostor Roy.
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Jason’s look (minus the mask) is very similar as before, but now he’s sporting some gloves and a utility belt.
Up close of the mask. Looks pretty different now.
Undead Jason with no mask on. Scary!
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Jason Voorhees looks badass in Part VII.
Jason Voorhees is getting really rotten looking!
Up close of the mask in Part VII. It looks pretty similar to Part VI, with the boat propeller damage (on the wrong side though, oops!).
Yikes! Jason has really gone done hill in the looks department! Scary good!
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Jason seems to have grown some skin back in Part VIII.
Up close of Jason’s new mask. Yes, it changes again!
Jason’s goofy unmasked look in Part VIII.
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
Jason keeps on changing and bulking up.
The mask looks pretty sweet in JGTH. The continuity work on it is pretty good, if you skip Part VIII that is.
Jason X
Jason has changed once again in Jason X.
Up close of the new mask. Not liking the duck nose.
Jason unmasked and looking pretty disgusting.
Uber-Jason in all his stupid glory.
Dumb, dumb Uber-Jason look.
Freddy vs Jason
Jason has gotten cold in Freddy vs Jason and threw a coat on.
Up close of the mask and it looks pretty good. Not great, but good.
Now it looks really good! All it needed was some handiwork by Freddy Krueger.
Jason wasn’t unmasked in Freddy vs Jason, but this is what he looked like! Frankenstein inspired.
Friday the 13th (2009) Remake
As it was a remake, Jason Voorhees had to throw the sack on for a bit.
It isn’t long though before he puts on the new mask. He’s also sporting a coat like FvsJ Jason. I think he wears it better.
Up close of the mask. It’s a sweet looking piece of work, with lots of damage.
Jason was once again not unmasked in the remake, but once again, this is what he would look like.
There we go folks, the many looks of Jason Voorhees. I hope you enjoyed the photos and all the different styles our sassy maniac sported throughout the giant series known as Friday the 13th. Feel free to comment below on what you think is Jason Voorhees’ best look. I plan on doing these for other iconic figures in horror movies, so look to the future for those.
