Hump Day Happy Deals Vol. 14

Welcome to Vol. 14 of Hump Day Happy Deals. For previous Happy Deals, check out the past entries.

Even though my busy life schedule has kept me from watching movies, taking photos and working on my sites, which I am deeply sorry for, I managed to sneak out and pick up some action figures and a couple books this past weekend. I somehow seem to always find time to spend money…

Books

Bought for $5

Synopsis: Koushun Takami’s
notorious high-octane thriller is based on an irresistible premise: a
class of junior high school students is taken to a deserted island
where, as part of a ruthless authoritarian program, they are provided
arms and forced to kill one another until only one survivor is left
standing. Criticized as violent exploitation when first published in
Japan – where it then proceeded to become a runaway bestseller – Battle
Royale is a Lord of the Flies for the 21st century, a potent allegory of
what it means to be young and (barely) alive in a dog-eat-dog world.
Made into a controversial hit movie of the same name, Battle Royale is
already a contemporary Japanese pulp classic, now available for the
first time in the English language.

Bought for $5

Synopsis: Master storyteller Clive Barker is no stranger to graphic novel
adaptations of his work, and this massive omnibus collects three of his
IDW projects! This volume starts off with The Thief of Always, moves on
to the epic twelve-part The Great and Secret Show, and ends with Seduth,
all illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez. With no shortage of sprawling
high-concept, spine-chilling thrills, and inspired art, the Clive Barker
Omnibus is a great launching point into his dark universe.

That’s a big pile of figures and a few books. The shelves in the basement are starting to get full and my wife is starting to get angry, so life is pretty much the same. Hopefully I’ll find some time to stop spending money and start working on updating the sites. Until next time…

Oh wow those are awesome! I haven't read TWD comics (afraid to cause of spoilers..) but neat to see those! I will get around to them one day! I love the Pop Michonne! I have the Daryl Dixon one and it's also autographed!

The show does use some elements of the comic series, so yes, you would face some spoilers unfortunately. Still, the comic series is pretty amazing and you could probably read quite a few before you catch up to where the show is. I definitely recommend checking them out.

Awesome on the autographed Daryl Dixon Pop figure. That's pretty sweet. 🙂
