I knew social media sites would eventually kill everyone on Earth, be it by slowly making you addicted to constantly having to see what everyone is doing every second of every minute of every day, or if that ain’t it, it’s zombies, always zombies. Antisocial mixes the “zombies” of 28 Days Later, with the concept of The Signal, to give you a movie that has a been there done that feeling, but an effective message that says, get off your damn phone.

Short nitty-gritty plot description from IMDb is as follows: Five university friends gather at a house party to ring in the New Year. Unbeknownst to them, an epidemic has erupted outside, causing outbreaks around the world.
Tatlock’s Quick ‘n Dirty Recap: It’s New Years Eve and people seem to be more interested in updating their status, than actually going out and having some fun. This constant annoyance leads to the sudden downfall of society, as people everywhere start turning into ravenous, unstoppable beasts. During this chaos, we focus on a group of friends, who are holed up in house, while the outside crumbles. Unfortunately, people inside start becoming infected and tensions rise to a frightening level.
Tatlock’s Opinion: First thing I want to say about Antisocial, is how awesome the soundtrack is for this movie. The opening scene alone, with the infected girl and the pumping music, had me nodding my head and grinning. Things were off to great start and honestly, the movie only petered off a little as the time wound down and we realize that the movie isn’t going to give you anything you haven’t already seen before.
My biggest complaint towards the movie, besides the lack of originality mentioned above, is a lack of explanation on exactly what is happening to these people. I mean, the movie kinda explains a little bit, going into weird creature territory, but in the end, I was still left with plenty of questions. Also, and this is the real kicker, the movie really starts getting good near the end, which just sucks big time. I wanted to see more of what happens after the credits started rolling. This is one movie that begs for a sequel, just so I can see more ass kicking, all thanks to actress Michelle Mylett, who plays Sam. Everyone else is kind of just there to either act scared or die.
Tatlock’s Verdict: Quick and small review for a movie that doesn’t offer up much new and different, but still manages to entertain and leaves you wanting more come the ending. Also, the music is pretty gnarly.
