Witchboard Movie Review

The 80s man. A time of awful, yet awesome clothing, totally rad hair and amazing horror films. Yes, folks, Witchboard is an amazing horror film. Why is it amazing you might be asking. Well, it’s really hard to say, as the acting isn’t the best and the budget isn’t huge, but for some unknown reason, it’s got this charm running through it. Plus, you got the smoking hot Tawny Kitaen playing with an Ouija board and talking to a potential demon. Awesome!Release: Mar 13th, 1987

Tatlock’s Quick ‘n Dirty Review: Witchboard is the perfect example of a fun 80s movie. Even for the silly premise, it still takes itself seriously, so you can’t help but enjoy it, quirky acting and all. Combine that with a plot that’s filled with some mystery, a psycho bearded killer, an extremely 80s psychic named Zarabeth (Kathleen Wilhoite) and a few surprising deaths (one that kind of ticks me off, hence, not a perfect score), this is one 80s horror movie worth checking out.

Verdict: Not much more can be said about Witchboard. It isn’t a masterpiece, but it’s also a prime example of a good time. It’s never boring and what do you know, it’s also got a few tricks up its sleeve. I definitely recommend checking the movie out if you’re fan of a time when a movie about a poofy haired girl, who gets deeply involved with a dead boy (who may or may not be crazy), all through the power of an Ouija board, can be seen as a serious horror film. Plus, the Scream Factory Blu-ray is full of special features and looks great.
